The veggie garden 2010-IPM (Part 2)

As we waited for our bugs and larvae to be shipped out we started watching the bugs in our garden closely (with our Camera) and brought back pictures to ID them.

Here is what we found-

The hover fly

And a green Lace Wing

And on the same day @ work, I spot a lady bug on one of  my colleagues dress as she got back from lunch. I carefully pick it up in a disposable coffee cup with a paper lid (with holes in it to help it breathe)

We picked it up with a toothpick and put it on one of the leaves that had severe infestation.

It hung out at the tip of the toothpick for a while

And guess what.....the Lady bug just refused to get off the toothpick and onto the leaf. We figured that the smell of the onion, garlic concoction was too strong for it to stay. And it finally flew away after giving us false hopes for over an hour !
